THE POWE OF VISION

Four-years ago I didn’t know that I would be living in the United States and that I would have so many opportunities to grow professionally. My main goals after graduating from Baruch College are to work in a medium CPA firm, to study fashion design and get a degree, to became an entrepreneur creating a small company that will design wedding dresses and to apply my accounting experience in this company and finally but not least to have a family in my own.
First of all, I wanted to be an accountant since I started high school. I am accomplishing this goal, and I would like to work in a medium CPA firm. To accomplish this goal I am applying for an internship and I will probably start in the summer.

Third, I would love to have a family of my own, but I want to have economic stability to be able to handle all the responsibilities that one-day will come.
In conclusion, I know that there are many difficulties that will be trying to accomplish my goal but I am learning how to achieve every goal.

  1. It seems that having a family of our own is a common vision among many of us. Success in our careers is also a common vision. It is not a coincidence that these two visions coincide because it is necessary to be successful if we are to support our own families. I am sure that your knowledge in accounting is going to help you in opening up a small business and I wish you the best!

  2. You're ideas sound very similar to mine. I am also going for my CPA, and I don't want to work for a large Accounting firm either. Also, as both you and Mat mentioned, I would like to have a family. I think many students here at Baruch are goal-oriented and know what they want. Also, I find it interesting that you are interested in design, yet chose to come to a business school rather than say, for instance, FIT. I can relate because i turned down both Fordham and Cal Arts, where I was going to major in dance, to come here.

  3. It is hard to find someone that know what they are doing especially nowadays everyone blames on the economy saying"oh the economy is bad, I will see." No matter what situation you are in, you should never give up and have a strong mind set of what you want to do in the future, and i see that in you. However talk is cheap make sure you get those goal mark down and do them. Best luck.

  4. You're right! Working hard to accomplish your goals. Doing that step by step. Hope you can find a job in a great accounting firm. I think if you have a job, then no need to worry about you can't handle the family's responsibilities. Aim it and do it! Wish you luck!

  6. You seem to have a pretty good plan going here. The timing of everything seems to be well thought out. I actually went to an event at baruch where this guy was talking about the benifits of working at a mid size firm opposed to the bid 4, and it really does seem like the midsized companies provide a more relaxed and intimate environment and the pay is not to different so I think you made a good choice. I basically want to work at one of the big 4 first just to get the experience and as a resume booster and maybe move to a smaller firm from there depending on how it goes.

  7. Thank you all for your comments.
Gilbert, I choose to go with the medium firm because of the work environment and not so much for the salary. But I agree that the experience in working in one of the big 4 will help your resumen.
Charlene and Peter, I will also say that putting your goals in action is the most important for me. Thanks for your motivation.
Rachel, I will love to accomplish my goal as soon as possible and finally became a designer. It is difficult to give up one of your dreams, but we have time to accomplish them. Good luck.
Mat, family is very important for me and for everyone. Good luck.
